    2nd August 2008

Wells Cathedral, Somerset Saturday 2nd August 2008, 7pm Somerset Chamber Choir - 'Songs of War & Peace' Poulenc Gloria, Kodaly Psalmus Hungaricus, Vaughan Williams Dona nobis pacem. Poulenc’s Gloria is possibly the most familiar of the three works which we will perform - joyously exuberant and humorous from beginning to end, it is always popular with audiences. Kodaly’s Psalmus Hungaricus - a fantastically dramatic cantata for tenor and choir, with lavish orchestral writing, will give one of our soloists, Andrew Staples, ample opportunity to display his considerable talent. Vaughan Williams Dona nobis pacem contains some superbly atmospheric and delightful choral writing - of which Michael Kennedy has said 'The music abounds in beauties'. Tickets: £7.50 - £25 (children & Students £2, subject to availability) from 01275 349010
